In The Dangerous Desert Trial, we get up close with international motocross legend Pål Anders Ullevålseter through an inside look into one of the 6000-kilometre Dakar desert rally marathons that have claimed 76 lives so far.Pål Anders and his 27-year-old protégé Felix Jensen join the Africa Eco Race to give back to Africa. But not everything goes as planned.

Dakar rallies have claimed 76 lives since 1979. Motocross legend Pål Anders Ullevålseter lost nine friends and survived 12 races to Dakar before retiring. Now, he has the opportunity to give something back to Africa, but he has to get back in the saddle for one last ride.

In The Dangerous Desert Trial, Pål Anders and27-year-old teammate Felix Jensen compete in the 6000-kilometre Africa Eco Race from Monaco to Dakar. If one of them wins a medal, a cash prize will be given to theAfrica Mercy, a floating hospital docked in Dakar and belonging to the charity Mercy Ships.

But it’s one of the toughest races in the world. Instead of just driving to the hospital, one of them experiences a catastrophic crash and gets hospitalized himself, with serious injury. He is lucky to be alive. Can the other still win a medal?
